Facebook Lovers gifted with Rooms App For anonymous chat

Similar to the chat sessions that took place in chat rooms in mid 90’s, the face book has recently launched its new app called the Rooms App to carry out the tradition of chats anonymously on topics based on different people’s interest.

This App is a conversion of the chat rooms to digital age online session which i OS users can access it at any point of time. The user of this app does not have to wait for a desktop or PC in their basement to create an environment of chat rooms but instead they can create and customize room for them.

"Early users have already created rooms for everything from beat boxing videos to parkour to photos of home-cooked meals," Facebook Product Manager Josh Miller said in a blog post. "There's even a room called 'Kicks From Above' that showcases photographs of cool shoes in cool places."
Just an email address is needed to sign up and the Facebook creative labs issues rooms and the app do not get in touch directly to Facebook.

As per a Privacy statement from rooms, “We may share information about you within the companies and services operated by Facebook to understand and improve our services, but the information you share on Rooms will never be posted to your Facebook account and the information you share on Facebook will never be posted to your Rooms account.”

The interesting part in this App is that, the user can think of different username for each room. Josh Miller wrote, “In my room for technology industry discussions I am 'Josh' but in another about backpacking travel I am 'jm90403' – homage to my hometown ZIP code. Sometimes I want to go with my real name and sometimes I prefer a nickname. It depends.”

This application also follows the characteristic of any social media in terms that, information that are shared on rooms is not secret but they are made public. According to rooms, This includes your usernames, comments, and photos. Anyone online or offline, including people off of Rooms, may be able to see this information. When you join a room, your status as a member of the room may also be visible to other Rooms users, such as the moderator of the Room."

To break the monotony of only textual chat, the attractive part of this chat is that one can add videos and photos to a room to make it interesting and lively. One who owns a room is allowed to add a cover photo, select colors, pin messages of note, customize member permissions and put their word regarding which of their contents that they shared should be linked with the web.

The long impending problem of Users using a fake user name still persists within this app too and until users really complain, Facebook authorities do not pay much heed to this fact. In fact this is the reason why an anonymous chat idea was thought about while designing this app.
